Open Invitation: Community Earth Care Interfaith Service
Howdy!
I'd like to
invite you attend a Community Earth Care Interfaith Service on October
23rd, one of over 2,000 350.org events taking place for International Day of
Climate Action. You'll find more details below in the
announcement. Some of the actions taking place near the end of the service
will be volunteering to plant trees with Trees Across Raleigh, signing postcards
to Senator Kay Hagan for green jobs and renewables in NC, and
ringing the bell 350 times!!

On October
23, people from Raleigh and the surrounding Triangle region will
gather for a Community Earth Care Interfaith Service to kick off the
largest global day of climate action ever. The event—one of more than 2,000
rallies in more than 140 nations—is coordinated by 350.org to urge world leaders to take fast and effective action on
global warming. This is the first global
campaign ever organized around a scientific data point: 350 parts per million
CO2 is the safe upper limit for the atmosphere according to the latest
scientific data.
WHO:
Local
people of faith representing various beliefs.
WHAT:
Community Earth Care Interfaith Service, a
community interfaith service with a focus on connecting with and
caring for the Earth. We will share our common faith perspectives with message,
music, art, ringing of the bells, and action. Simultaneously, people in every
corner of the world will be taking action, from climbers with 350 banners high
on the melting slopes of Mount Everest to government officials in the Maldive
Islands holding an underwater cabinet meeting to demand action on climate change
before their nation disappears.
