Review New Bills Introduced Into The Senate And House Regarding Local Food
Dear Local Food Advocates:
As part of the Farm to Fork "Building a Local Food Economy in North
Carolina" initiative-summit scheduled for May 11 and 12, one of the

Pittsboro, N.C. — Chatham Marketplace is all about fresh food and supporting local farmers and businesses. But you might raise an eyebrow to find out the cooperative market also supports printing its own currency.
"We are printing a currency of exchange, right, but as long as there's an agreed-upon value, it's legal," said Mary DeMare. "It's like bartering."
It's called the Plenty (Piedmont Local Economy Tender), and it's used just like money at more than a dozen businesses in Pittsboro. Chatham Marketplace also uses the Plenty to pay employees bonuses.
Greenovation - Intro to Blog and Step 1
Wed, 04/08/2009 - 10:18 — AdministratorApparently i have a problem with sitting still. Because starting a one of a kind catering company, that includes a farm and biodiesel conversion facility, isn't enough work...i've bought and am greening a new home near downtown Raleigh. I expect it's going to be mostly about hard work and not about actual training since i don't know squat about renovation...much more than the everyday basics. I'm hoping to learn a great deal and i'm almost positive i'll learn the hard way.

Model Policies - Protecting Community Gardens and Setting Them Up
Model Policies
Planning for Healthy Places has developed several model policies

protecting community gardens and farmers' markets, and provide model
general plan and zoning language to encourage these uses. The language
is designed to be tailored to meet individual communities’ needs.
